The Kosovo Resolution adopted by Serbian Parliament

National Assembly of Serbia adopted the Kosovo Resolution last night. 175 members of parliament voted for the Resolution and 19 of them voted against it.

The Kosovo Resolution is a result of the acts of the President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic and the Serbian government. President Nikolic has presented his draft platform for Kosovo a couple of weeks ago.

The content of the Kosovo Resolution

The Kosovo Resolution indicates that all the agreements which eventually would be made with Pristina must be compatible with this act and with the Serbian Constitution.  This document insists on creating of an union of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo.

It is also written that “Serbia is willing to make the compromises in dialogue with Pristina institutions for the greater good of relationships between Serbs and Albanians. This doesn`t mean that Serbia will go against their national interests with it”.

The Kosovo Resolution repeats the will of Serbia to make compromise which would bring Serbia and the whole region to EU. However, that compromise doesn`t mean the recognition of Kosovo`s independency which Serbia will never make.

It is emphasized that all the jurisdiction which would be agreed to be a substantial part of Kosovo institutions will be confirmed with Constitutional Act by the Serbian Parliament which will be compatible with the Serbian Constitution.

In his speech in Parliament President Nikolic said that he had had lost “a lot in his life but he can`t lose Kosovo because it`s not his”.

The Kosovo Resolution is supported by the political parties which constitute the Serbian Government and by the largest opposition Democratic Party (DS).
